The ENERGO CONTROL Ltd. company has pursued their activities to modernise the units of the Santa Cruz power plant since 2001 already which bore fruits in 2003, when they closed a contract, together with the SES Tlmače company, for the modernisation of units 1 to 3 of the power plant, including auxiliary operations.
Stage 1 included the so-called small reconstruction of units 1 to 3 with the automation of the most important regulation circuits of the power plant.
Stage 2 included the design of the overall modernisation of unit 2 including the repair of the technology of the power plant, especially in the boiler room. The company has performed their activities as the subcontractor of the main contractor, the SES Tlmače company for the Cuban Energoimport company.
The ENERGO CONTROL Ltd. company was charged with the replacement of the out-dated control system by a modern, centralised control system, including complete field Instruments.
The original control system based on local regulators and manual control was replaced by the most modern control system, at that time, produced by the Japanese producer – Yokogawa Centum 3000 – for which the ENERGO CONTROL company was granted an export licence.
When modernising unit 1 during the period of 2010 to 2011, the originally proposed Centum 3000 control system was replaced by the new generation of control systems of the Yokogawa company, namely the CentumVP control system for the purpose of continuous control and regulation; and by the ProSafe system for the purpose of safety and protection systems. Such a replacement was selected due to the client’s requirement to apply the newest control systems with a prospect of producer’s support for at least 10 years from the time of their putting into operation, which was impossible to guarantee with the Centum 3000 system.
